Streak:
A color of a mineral in its powdered form. Streak. Streak is the color of the powder left behind when a mineral is rubbed against a rough surface.
Example:
Imagine trying to judge the flavor of a fruit just by looking at its skin. Just as a fruit may look one way on the outside but taste different on the inside, a mineral can appear a certain color in its natural form but show its true color when powdered. The concept of streak in mineralogy is like cutting into the fruit to taste its true flavor—it's about revealing the mineral's genuine color, which, like the flavor, cannot be accurately judged from the exterior alone.
