Goalkeeper. El portero. El portero is the player in soccer who guards the goal.
Example:
“El portero” means “the goalkeeper.” Picture a soccer goal as a grand doorway, with a uniformed porter standing guard: “I’ll take your bags, but that ball is NOT coming in!” An English porter watches the entrance; el portero watches the goal.
